The gorgeously natural looking golden tan is derived from a simple carbohydrate (DHA or glycerone) sourced from plants such as sugar beets or sugar cane which is also present in the human body.  Without exposure to the sun's harmful rays, the induced tan also provides photo-protection against UVA radiation.

DHA-based sunless tanning has been recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation, American Academy of Dermatology Association, Canadian Dermatology Association and the American Medical Association as a safer alternative to sunbathing.
